Relax & Unwind by the Fire…

Nothing is more beautiful than nighttime in the Black Hills, EXCEPT enjoying a fire at nighttime in the Black Hills!  Sitting on the side deck of the lodge, the fire pit is a perfect place to wind down after an event-filled day.

Return home from the lighting ceremony at Mount Rushmore and help the kids make s’mores or enjoy a glass of wine, one of our delicious charcuterie boards and some good conversation around the fire.

The history in the area is rich…

…and that certainly doesn’t end with the building.  Formerly the community Fire Hall, The original “Battle Creek Lodge” building served as the town fire hall, community center, and youth center prior to the devastating flood of 1972.  After the Flood in 1972, major reconstruction was required, and the City of Keystone sold the property and what was remaining of the building.

In 1973, a family with a deep history and deep connection to the Keystone community purchased the property and started it on the road to becoming  Battle Creek Lodge on what it has become today.  Tammy and Cine Hunsaker took over the operation in 2010.  They both take great pride in staying true to the rich history of the community.  Look for more information on the history of Battle Creek when you visit the lodge or on your next visit to the Keystone Museum.
