Area Things to See and Do

Mount Rushmore National Memorial is at the top of everyone’s “must see list” and with good reason. It is simply stunning! A popular event is the evening lighting ceremony. Starting every year at Memorial Day and running nightly through Labor Day, the evening lighting ceremony remains one of the favorites of all Mount Rushmore visitors. (Please check for exact time as it changes throughout the season.)

Although Mount Rushmore may be what brings you to the area, it is certainly not the only thing to do or see. The beautiful mountains of the Black Hills have countless hiking and biking trails, fishing streams, parks with recreational activities, museums, attractions for kids, great restaurants, and LOTS MORE that will keep you from ever having to hear your kids say “I am bored” ever again!

Keystone is the place that unlocks the door to countless activities and new adventures. From your visits to Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse monuments, to riding horseback or by mountain bike on the Mickelson Trail, to hiking the famous Harney Peak or exploring a cave, to panning for gold and rock hunting for a world-famous Fairburn agate, there is always something fun to do in the Hills.

If you are looking for more family fun activities, Keystone offers the Alpine slide, The 1880 Train, Bear Country U.S.A., Reptile Gardens, Old McDonald’s Farm, The Mirror Maze, Rushmore Cave & the New Zip Ride, Cosmos Mystery Area, and countless others!

Badlands National Park, Devils Tower, Jewel Cave National Monument, Wind Cave National Park, and Minuteman Missile National Historical Site are a few of our National treasures that are an easy trip from Battle Creek Lodge. Check them out!

The small town of Keystone comes to life in summer season and offers great dining experiences and fantastic entertainment - most within walking distance of Battle Creek Lodge. Please be sure to check out the always-changing weekly activities upon checking into the lodge. It will offer you the most current update on the coming events and activities.
